"You're never as alone as you think."

As a child, Mack Phillips and his mother endured emotional and physical abuse by the hands of his father. His father died when Mack was a teenager under assumed circumstances. Despite a tough childhood, Mack grows into a loving husband and father to three girls. Their life goes awry when their youngest child, Missy, goes missing during a camping trip. This heartbreak rocks Mack's faith to his core.

At the beginning of winter Mack receives an envelope without a stamp in his mailbox. There are no footprints or tire tracks in the snow near the mailbox when the letter was delivered to give clues to who delivered it. In the mysterious letter, he is invited to a cabin.

When Mack arrives at the cabin, assuming he would be meet and kill or capture the man responsible for Missy's death. Filled with rage he considers taking the gun to himself. When he faces three mysterious strangers who invite him to their cabin across the way in a sunny, midsummer wilderness. The strangers help Mack understand his life from a different viewpoint.
